Ancient Olympia is worldwide known as the site of the ancient Olympic Games. It used to be a sanctuary of ancient Greece. Temple of Zeus at Ancient Olympia was hosting The Statue of Zeus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, created by the famous sculptor, painter and architect, Phidias.
The Olympic Games were first held in the stadium of Ancient Olympia in 776 B.C. and took place on a four-year-basis thereafter until present times.
